01
THE IDEA TO UNDERSTAND

Three assets. Only two contributing?

The portfolio membership looks right. You need to establish which member models actually contribute to the selected view.

HOW IT WORKS

Portfolio membership and model availability are different checks. In Portfolio Manager, inspect “Choose a model” and the selected model type, sub-type and period. A member without that selected model cannot contribute that model’s results to the aggregate.

The method you will practise

  1. Open the portfolio and read the selected model type, sub-type and period.
  2. Check each member against that same combination. A model from another period is not the selected model.
  3. Resolve the missing model or choose an appropriate comparable set, then check the aggregate again. Do not enter a zero to stand in for missing data.

02
THINK IT THROUGH

Station House has no model for the selected period. Is that a zero result?

Choose what you expect. The feedback will help you test your starting idea.

03
YOUR TURN

Inspect the member model set

Compare the cases below. Notice what changes, then read the explanation of why.

WHY THIS HAPPENS

An invented diagnostic checklist, not an ARGUS Intelligence screen or a calculated portfolio report.

04
CHECK WHAT YOU UNDERSTAND

You find a Station House model from a different period. What is the sound next step?

Open the portfolio and read the selected model type, sub-type and period.

05
TAKE THE SKILL INTO YOUR WORK

Now try it in your software.

In Portfolio Manager, read “Choose a model”. Record the selected type, sub-type and period, then check each member against that combination. This sample does not connect to your portfolio.

WHAT YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO EXPLAIN

You can distinguish an incomplete comparison from an asset with a zero result.

Need help with your own example?

The Companion is where you ask about the task on your screen. Include your software version, what you changed and the result you expected.
