Procore: handle conflicting RFI responses before marking an answer official

Separate an unresolved technical conflict from Procore’s official-response and close actions. Work through an original RFI decision example.

YOU ASK

The architect and engineer gave different answers to my RFI. Should I mark both official?

The short answer

Resolve the conflict before selecting the official response. Procore can mark more than one reply official, but that does not reconcile incompatible instructions. An official marker identifies the accepted answer; it does not decide which technical proposal is correct.

Work through the checks

  1. Identify the specific point on which the replies disagree.
  2. Keep the RFI unresolved until an authorised, coherent answer is recorded through the project’s clarification process.
  3. With the required permissions, mark the agreed response or compatible responses official.
  4. Review closure separately. Marking a response official is not the same action as closing the RFI.

Invented workflow example. Propfessor is not approving a design or determining a contractual instruction.

THE EASY MISTAKE

Two official markers do not turn two inconsistent instructions into one usable answer.
