Procore: why you may mark an RFI response official but cannot close it

Compare Procore’s Mark Official Responses permission with the conditions for closing an RFI. Check the tool permission and your role on that record.

YOU ASK

I can mark the response official, but I cannot close this Procore RFI. Why?

The short answer

The two actions have different permission paths. Mark Official Responses can allow an eligible creator, assignee or distribution-list member to mark a reply without also granting the conditions needed to close the RFI.

Work through the checks

  1. Confirm you are viewing the intended project and RFI.
  2. For closing, check for Admin permission on the project RFIs tool. Otherwise, check Read Only or Standard permission together with Act as RFI Manager and the required record relationship: RFI Manager, or creator with Standard permission.
  3. Do not assume that the Mark Official Responses granular permission, or a job title alone, grants closure rights.
  4. Use the project’s authorised permission process if your assignment and permissions do not match the task. Preserve the RFI and its replies.

THE EASY MISTAKE

A missing close action does not mean the RFI must be recreated or that another response will grant permission.
